The history of the Gkinis family is intersected with the vine and wine, according to family documents, about a century ago. It is then that the ancestors begin systematically to cultivate and expand their own vineyards at the foot of the Serres Geraniums and specifically in the region of Chania Megara. An area which, due to the slope of the soil, the low-area yield and the amphitheater, offers high quality grapes with concentrated flavor and aromas. Initially the vinification of these, in the then traditional way, is done to meet family needs. But soon, high demand leads them to trade. And that's how it all starts .... The love and love of the family for the vineyard and the wine, led in 1967 to the creation of a state-of-the-art winery of 800 tons in owned 1,500 square meters. in Megara, Attica. In the effort to respond to increased demand and adaptation to new trends, continuous improvements are made, sometimes small and sometimes large. In 1990 the long family tradition continues with the delivery of the baton by Konstantinos I. Gkinis to his two sons, John and Nicholas. With enthusiasm and hard work, they are proceeding with the creation of the company Ioannis & Nikolaos K. Ginis OE. Their main vision and aim is to improve the quality and modernize the technical infrastructure. So they make continuous steps in this direction, but never forget the history and tradition they inherited ... Choosing carefully varieties from the Megaron land, but also from other areas of Greece such as Savvatiano, Roditi, Malagousia, Moschofilero, Lazy Edessa, Asyrtiko (for white wines) as well as Agiorgitiko, Merlot, Syrah (for the red ones), proceed to winemaking them, always under absolutely controlled conditions and with the least possible intervention. So, the steps of the Gini family on the way to producing quality wine are continuing at a steady pace, and knowing that this love is inherited from generation to generation, we hope that it will be passed on to the next generations with the same passion for many years.
